Personal branding and a high ticket product are essential for success in online marketing

How many videos have you seen, how many articles have you read that waste your time with the same old story about someone’s love of his family, pet parrot and biking in Barbados before you get to anything like CONTENT.

Frustrating, isn’t it. Because if you’re hoping to establish an online business, working from home, you hardly need to be reminded of people better off than you. You just want to know what the deal is, right?

In my experience there are two key factors you have to have in place if you want to achieve more than part time pickings: a high ticket value to your product offering and personal branding.

Most affiliate programs and products offer a low commission. So you have to network like a luncatic just to break even on your website subscriptions, the videos you keep buying, etc., etc. Your efforts don’t beat the day job or even nudge it off the road.

So what you want is a high ticket item that lies at the back of your sales funnel. It’s this that will help you attract motivated business partners and leverage team building. And with the right mentoring you could earn a six figure income through high end commissions being paid up-front.

Typically this means you have to find more in your start-up budget – but would you expect to go on a college course for under a couple hundred dollars? If you wanted to set up a business as a plumber, you’d need training, wouldn’t you, a van, tools and so on. So even a high ticket product isn’t expensive relative to other business start-up costs. And your long term prospects are stronger than with the likes of Amway and Clickbank.

With a big ticket item, you not only earn a better commission, you also make a bigger residual income from your team members. You have every incentive to work, not just for yourself but for your team: improve their performance and you earn more and gain the satisfaction of helping your team.

Which takes me on to the second thing you need to for online success: personal branding. As Mike Dillard eloquently expressed in his Magnetic Sponsoring, you also have to market yourself as a leader. You might say, ‘Well, I’m no authority on IM, I just started, for crying out loud.’

So educate yourself. Fast. As I’ve done. Sometimes there’s fiddly and frustrating stuff to get your head around, but if you stick at it, you will get it and then you can speak on the subject with authority.

Network through social media sites like Facebook and myspace. Set up your own group, brand it – by which I mean give it a name that corresponds with the names you’ve given to your blogs and other websites. Offer help, be generous with tips and information and people will soon start to believe you know what you’re talking about even before you’re an expert.

As a leader, you’ll start to develop a personal relationship with your prospects. They will start to see you as someone who provides REAL VALUE, not just a ‘business opportunity’. Frankly it’s the only way to cut through noise and stand out. You don’t have to be someone – just be yourself. How so? Because people don’t join a system, they join people. So if they find they have an affinity with you, they’re going to come to you.

And if you can come across as generous with what you know, generous with your contacts and time, guess what? People will want to do business with you. So you become a solutions provider and tutor instead of a salesman. Contrary to everything you’ve learnt at school about go-getting, you’ll see the virtue of becoming the hunted instead of the hunter.

With personal branding you don’t need the hype, or the gimmicks, you need only provide the information and expertise you have acquired. How do you acquire that expertise? Well, organizations providing high ticket systems will invariably coach you. And if you have the mindset to apply what you’re learning, you will become a leader. Period.

Be wary of anyone talking about getting rich quick, though. Online marketing is like any other business, you have to take action. If you’re willing to work and work with a MENTOR who is willing to help you maximize your strengths, it’s only a question of time before you reach the heights of success that you’ve always dreamed of.

An education in online marketing

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about setting up your own home based business on the internet. And you’ve had some success, but not enough. Close?

OK, well, I’d like you to take a look at this. I’m not going to hard sell it to you. Just take a read and watch the video and have a think about it.

So. The way this system works is like this. One way or another you’ve come across Carbon Copy Pro. You’re on a landing page and let’s say you make an application. That’ll cost you $47. Why do they charge you? To sift through all the pretenders and tyre kickers that would only waste your sponsor’s time.

Once you’ve made the application you get a call from someone at Carbon Copy Pro and he or she will answer any questions you may have. There is no other program out that I know of that does that.
From there most people go on to buy the BIB (business in a box) which is $397. That’s what I did. Because I was broke and, admittedly, a little sceptical.

Why can’t you start for free, or for much less than that? Well, would you expect to go on a college course for a few hundred dollars? Uh-uh. If you wanted to set up a business as a plumber, you’d need training, a van, tools and so on. So this isn’t expensive. And it is professional.

To be honest, I don’t know why they call it business in a box – that’s a little inaccurate, it’s actually better than that, it’s a business on the web. Because what you get is immediate access to a whole set of video tutorials, podcasts, etc and at least a dozen already formatted landing pages to which you can attach your own domain name – which they also give you. They show you how to use social media, videos, google ad words, auto responders – all of that – so that you can get set up within a few days. You also get to talk to a sponsor, so if you get stuck there’s help at hand.

If you’re not too strapped for cash, I’d recommend going in at the higher levels: you have the option of purchasing their WMI affiliated products, M1, M2 and M3 and kid of by-passing BIB. The M1 is $1997 of which you receive $1000, when you sell it; the M2 is around $9,000 of which you receive $4,000, and M3 is around $20,000, of which you receive $9,000 for each sale you make. These M1s, 2s and 3s offer not only excellent education on online marketing – which you can use for any kind of business, by the way – they also give you access to some of the top entrepreneurs in the business – and that connection is worth even more to you in the long run.

So if you’re looking for a truly professional program that doesn’t involve selling over the phone and gives you a real chance of succeeding online from home, then you really should look very closely at Carbon Copy Pro. Just think in a few weeks you could be working in your pyjamas, starting work when you feel like it, picking up the kids from school (as I do), any number of things you just couldn’t fit in working the day job.

What defines an entrepreneur

…So what was I saying on twitter? Oh, yeah. The importance of taking action. If you want to be an entrepreneur, not a mere wannabe.

A wannabe tends look for the perfect plan and wait for the perfect time. Entrepreneurs, on the other hand, will execute and take action when they see an opportunity.

Entrepreneurs accept educated risk and are able to make big decisions quickly once they have all the information.

They make a decision and take some risk. No successful entrepreneur ever accomplished anything significant by playing it safe!

There are dozens, possibly hundreds, of Online Marketing ideas out there – system this and system that – and if you’re reading this, chances are they’re driving you a bit nuts.

So, let me suggest something. Try what I did. I didn’t wait for the perfect time, the perfect opportunity, or the perfect situation. I focused on one. I took decisive action and I quit procrastinating. A leap of faith, if you will – but without it, you’re going nowhere fast.
